Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in relation to all functions within the IT and Network Systems of Orange Botswana. This will be accomplished by developing a technical strategy for rolling IT and network platforms in line with the FT Group IS and networks strategy to deliver appropriate products, applications and services. Additional responsibilities include representing Orange Botswana at technical forums locally, regionally and internationally.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Lead and supervise a team of Managers, Engineers and Technicians in the operational objectives of the department and the company as a whole
Prepare the annual Capex and Opex budget and to approve and control the Opex of the department
Lead technical management team in purchasing, supplier choice and contract decisions in regards to network deployment projects and other operational work
Supervise and coordinate projects of major network equipment suppliers and communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure that contracts are implemented as stipulated in the supply contracts
Improve competence and productivity of department by sourcing relevant training
Develop and write all department procedures, processes and interfaces
Maintain a database of network key performance indicators in order to determine the health of the network at all times and to make decision on future expansion or redeployment
Coordinate meetings with BTC, BTA, Mascom and other telecommunications stakeholders in matters of common interest
Qualifications, skills, competencies and experience:
Degree in Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent
At least 8-10 years experience in telecommunications networks experience
Good knowledge of GSM mobile networks, Business Information Systems and Billing sytems
At least 5 years in managerial position
Leadership/people-management skills
Customer and business orientation

Proficiency in oral and written communication
Organisational and problem solving skills
Technical skills
