Applications are invited from suitably qualified employees of the Administration of Justice for the above post in the organisation.
Qualifications: Standard Seven, good command of English and Setswana, Class “E” drivers license, skills in physical geography of Botswana and map reading.
Experience: Minimum of two years as Driver II (B4)
Salary scale: B3 (P33, 696.00 – P40, 296.00)
Leave: 20 working days per annum
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Transports Judges to and from work, circuit court and unscheduled trips/always on call and also amongst others to:
• Transport foreign Judges e.g. Judges of the Court of Appeal and other very important dignitaries
• Transports Judges’ children to and from school, transports Judges to parties, weddings, funerals, pats utilities and make cash transactions
• Choose appropriate routes bearing in mind the security of the Judge in normal driving situations and in times of emergency
• Performing routine vehicle maintenance, which may include removal and fitment of tyres, ensuring that the tyres are inflated to the correct pressure for the load and conditions
• Performing pre-trip inspection and ensures that the vehicle they are assigned to drive is road worthy before commencing any journey
• Drives vehicles displaying a standard of professionalism in map reading, diagnosing common faults in primary systems of the assigned vehicles and in performing minor emergency repairs
• Cleans and maintains all vehicles allocated to the judge and informs the Executive Court Reporters and Transport Officer
• Checks that vehicles are equipped with the necessary tools, such as wheel spanner, spare wheel, jack and triangle and ensures the safe custody of all such items
• Reports to the transport officer any faults detected during trips on the vehicle and the same to the workshop with all the necessary documents for repairs
• Undertakes any other related duties as assigned by management
