The Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM) invites applications from highly motivated and well experienced self-driven citizens of Botswana to fill the following vacant post with immediate effect:

VACANCY: CHIEF PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER
SALARY SCALE: 01 (P234 660 - P259 068 per annum) 
LEAVE:30 working days per annum.
BENEFITS:
• Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and the Employee pays 50%)
• Contributory Pension Fund Scheme (Government pays 15% and the Employee pays 5 %)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Public Relations, Mass Communication, Journalism or any related field. A post graduate qualification in Communication related field would be
an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE:
At least ten (10) years relevant post qualification experience, two (2) of which must have been at the level of 02 or 03 in Government or equivalent level in Parastatal or Private Sector Organizations.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To manage, direct and provide strategic leadership relating to Government Public Relation and Media in the Directorate of Public Service Management.

KEY RESULT AREAS:
• Initiates and coordinates the drafting of policy and legislation for Government Public Relations and Media Services.
• Initiates. develops and monitors quality assurance programmes for the Public Relations and Media Sector including the setting of quality standards.
• Monitors and analyses news to identify major incidents. activities and advise the Director on the best way to tackle issues arising from the Media.
• Arranges Media briefings for the Director.
• Ensures that the quality of Government website pages meet international standards and portray the country favourable to the outside world.
• Liaises with Media Organisations in an effort to give full publicity to important events and functions in the Directorate.
