Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) is a newly established body corporate, enacted in the Botswana investment and Trade Centre Act, 2011. (No. 12 of 2011). BITC’s major focus is to enable the country’s investment climate through the promotion, encouragement and facilitation of export development as well as the attraction and facilitation of local and foreign investment promotion in Botswana.

Chief Executive Officer
BITC would like to invite suitably qualified, dynamic, visionary, commercially oriented and self-driven individuals to apply for the position of Chief Executive Officer. The Chief Executive Officer ids required to set up BITC structures, and lead a team of professionals who can contribute to the on going efforts by Government and Business to improve the country’s investment climate in order to attract both local and foreign investors, including promoting export development.

At a strategic level, the candidate will be required to take advantage of the Botswana’ sound macroeconomic policies aimed at promoting industrial development and sustainable diversification of the economy by attracting sufficient productive domestic and foreign investment that can broaden the structure of Botswana’s economic activity, creating new job opportunities for Batswana to help the country achieve “prosperity for all” as espoused in Vision 2016.


The candidate will, among other things be expected to:
Create shareholder value through positioning Botswana as the “Investor Designation of Choice” by developing framework that encourages expansion of existing businesses; promoting new investments, including identification of business partners in and outside Botswana for joint ventures; promoting foreign direct investment; marketing of the BITC, both within and outside Botswana’ managing the “Botswana Brand”; consulting with the relevant stakeholders’ and recommending appropriate statutory and administrative frameworks relevant to the investment and export climate in Botswana.

Aligning BITC’s strategy with the relevant aspects of the current Botswana National Development Plan through planning and managing resources including ensuring that BITC’s long term plans are developed and aligned with the Government’s plans and relevant pillars of Vision 2016. In addition, the candidate will be required to ensure that all aspects of the marketing, investment and export processes such as receipts of Government of Botswana approvals, permits, grants and registration and the fulfilment of any other regulatory authorisations are effectively facilitated.

Creating an enabling high performance culture by planning and managing the performance of the BITC and employees to ensure the achievement of both short and long term strategic goals.


Minimum Requirements
This is an executive position: and to be considered, the candidate should have attained as a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Social Sciences with a minimum of fifteen years’ experience in a meaningful leadership role or managing business entities, five of the fifteen years, should have been in a senior leadership position.

Master’s degree or relevant post graduate development programme/professional qualification will be an added advantage.
