The
Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) is one of the leading exchanges in Southern
Africa and plays an increasingly important role in the country's economic
development by meeting the growing demand for investment products and access to
capital. The BSE wishes to recruit a dynamic professional to join the IT
Department and help contribute to the development of Botswana's capital market:
DATABASE
ADMINISTRATOR
Reporting
to the Information Technology Manager, the core responsibilities of the job
shall include among others, to plan, design, configure, implement and
administer enterprise-wide database systems in addition to ensuring their
optimum performance.
DUTIES
& RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION WIll INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Assisting in developing user manuals,
procedures, forms, reports, and database documentation.
·
Configuring and administering hardware and
software utilized on database, application and web servers.
·
Planning and scheduling audit assignments in
accordance with prioritized risk areas.
·
Assisting in the review of the ATS and CSD
systems, their performance, applicable standards, guidelines and operational
policies and procedures.
·
Contributing to reviewing performance and
utilization associated with each infrastructure and environment as well as
monitoring databases/systems performance issues and ensuring continuous
database availability.
·
Contributing to the reviews and assisting in the
implementation and maintenance of backup and recovery strategies.
·
Assisting in the implementation, review and
documentation of appropriate security guidelines and mechanisms for all
production systems.
·
Ensuring proper access levels are granted to
respective ATS and CSD users based on their profiles, requirements and set
recommended standards and enabling end-users to access management information
systems.
·
Performing database and software maintenance
(upgrades and patches etc) including proper licensing and second level support
availability.
·
Undertaking any other such duties as directed by
the IT Manager.
KNOWLEDGE
OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS Will BE AN ADDED ADVANTAGE
• VMWare
• Oracle
Database
• Weblogic
• Linux/Unix
scripting
The
successful candidate should have a Degree in Computer Science, Information
Technology or a related field with specialization in the design, implementation
and support of database systems.
The
applicant should at least have a minimum of 5 years experience, at least 2 of
which must have been spent as a Database Administrator.
The
successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package.
