1.       VACANCY NO. FSc/ES/T/1/2012: TECHNICIAN IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Duties:  The successful candidate will be expected to:
                                 i.            Work with soils, water and vegetation analysis
                               ii.            Organise clean and tidy equipment/laboratory/workshop
                              iii.            Ensure that the right equipment and materials are available for laboratory/workshop classes and move equipment in the department to areas where they will be used
                             iv.            Issue materials, tools, components and equipment to students
                               v.            Take incoming deliveries to their respective storage spaces
                             vi.            Assist in the training and supervision of subordinate junior staff
                            vii.            Regularly check and repair equipment
                          viii.            Perform any other duty as assigned by the Senior Technicians
 
Requirements
 Applicants should have a minimum of a two (2) year Diploma or Certificate in one of the following subject: Chemistry, Biology, Science Laboratory Technology or related field OR at least 3 years of service at
a level of assistant technician (excluding the period of full time study) and a record of outstanding service. Experience in working in a soil or water laboratory will be an added advantage.

2.       VACANCY NO. FSc/DC/T/5/2012: TECHNICIAN (GLASSBLOWING) IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY
Duties:  The successful candidate will be expected to:
                                 i.            Do fabrication, modification, general repairs of laboratory glassware e.g. burettes, flasks, specialised scientific glassware
                               ii.            Operate the glassblowing lathe with its accessories
                              iii.            Provide glassblowing services to the faculties of Science, education, Engineering and Technology e.t.c.
                             iv.            The candidate should be able to use glassblowing services to generate income for the University
Requirements
Applicants should have a minimum of a two (2) year Diploma or Certificate in or equivalent qualifications in Scientific Glassblowing OR at least 3 years of service at a level of assistant technician (Glassblowing) excluding the period of full time study and a record of outstanding service. Good practical skills and communication skills.
