Discovery
Metals limited ("DML" or "the Company") is a fast growing mining
company, which is listed on the Botswana and Australian Stock Exchanges. DML holds
an attractive portfolio of mineral assets and its management team has a strong track
record of success in finding and developing mineral resources.
As we
gear our organisation for growth and success we would Like to invite you to join
our organisation in the role of Shift Supervisor. This role will be based at the
Boseto Mine Site.
THE POSITION:
To schedule,
coordinate and monitor day to day Discovery
Metals Limited Processing Plant availability, utilization, operations and production
to ensure attainment of target throughput and product grade for the shift.
Reporting
to the Plant Operations Superintendent, the incumbent will be responsible for among
other things the following;
• Monitors concentrator and crushing plants
performance on an ongoing basis to ensure that the plant operating parameters are
adhered to and reports any deviations to the Plant Operations Superintendent.
• Assesses the condition of the plant on a continuous
basis to identify potential causes of breakdowns and reports findings, recommending
appropriate solution to Plant Operations and Metallurgical Superintendent
• Monitors maintenance in liaison with the
Maintenance Superintendent to ensure that maintenance work is undertaken within
agreed timeframes and that the plant is safe and available for operation
• Draws up daily operational plans and
schedules for the shift based on set targets and standards ensuring optimal utilization of resources
in terms of manpower, time and materials.
• Coordinates and monitors the implementation
of production plans to ensure that target throughput for the shift is attained
or exceeded i.e crusher tonnage, mill tonnage, copper recovery, concentrate produced
• Coordinates, supervises plant sampling
to ensure that sampling is conducted as per the procedure
• Checks, validates and analyses daily log
sheets produced by subordinates, prepares production reports highlighting operational
variances and priority areas that need to
be addressed
and hands over plant to the incoming Shift Process Supervisor
• Monitor utilisation of resources to
ensure effective financial cost control, and takes corrective action as required
• Ensure that set company policies and
programs are adhered
• Ensure there is discipline within the
section. Where
there are breaches appropriate disciplinary action is to be followed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful
candidate will have a minimum of 8 years relevant plant experience 3 of which have
been at a Control Room Operator level with 2 years additionally as a front line
Supervisor in a plant environment. A Diploma in Metallurgy or Mining would be highly
regarded.
