Properties is a wholly owned subsidiary of Botswana Railways (BR) whose primary
objective is to unlock land value and create wealth from prime land. The
company has in the recent past engaged in smart partnerships to develop The
Rail Park Mall. It continues to leverage on the vast land resources owned by
Botswana Railways and constantly looks for development opportunities country
wide.
The
Company is looking for a dynamic, talented and self-motivated individual to
fill the position of Managing Director based in Gaborone.
Job
Summary
To
establish the strategic and operational orientation of the Company, provide
leadership and vision for effective overall management, that is, profitability,
increasing shareholder value and growth of the company. The successful
candidate will also ensure conformity with policies agreed upon by the Board of
Directors of the Company, and be accountable to the Board for all activities of
the Company.
Main
Responsibilities
The
incumbent will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Company's estate,
its related resources and business activities to provide a supporting
environment commensurate with the Company's objectives. The procurement and
management of all works and services related to the operations of the Company.
He/she will provide long-term comprehensive and integrated resource planning
for the Company, to create the basis for fully exploiting the potential of
Botswana Railways Real Estate. He/she will also represent the Company on
business related matters and in dealing with business partnerships/joint
ventures.
Qualifications,
Experience and Competencies.
Reporting
to the Board, the Managing Director will have strong communication and
leadership skills and an in depth understanding of property management,
investment and real estate financial models is crucial.
A
degree in Real Estate, Land Management or any property related field and
membership of the Real Estate Institute of Botswana. An MBA will be an added
advantage. Should have business and entrepreneurial exposure and at least ten
(10) years experience in a recognised and well established estate management
environment five (5) years of which should have been held at senior management
level.
The
successful candidate will demonstrate superior skills in property management and
investment appraisal, property valuations, construction project management,
project evaluation, as well as, team leadership and motivation.
