Discovery Metals Limited("DML" or "the Company") is a fast growing company which is listed on the Botswana and Australian Stock Exchanges. DML holds an attractive portfolio of mineral assets and its management team has a strong track record of success in finding and developing mineral resources.
As we gear our Company for growth and success we would like you to join us in the role of Financial Accountant. The position will be based in Gaborone.
Main purpose
To manage the daily accounting functions of the Botswana head office as well as oversee the input of all financial transactions to ensure they comply with company accounting policies and accounting standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled each month and adjustments processed in a timely manner
- Manage the month end process in accordance with the month end checklist
- Ensure all bank accounts are reconciled each month against bank statements
- Ensure all inter-company transactions are correctly recorded and reconciled each month
- Ensure fixed assets are correctly captured in the Fixed Assets Module
- Assist with the annual physical verification of fixed assets located in Botswana
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts as required
Qualifications and Experience
The candidate should have strong financial accounting experience with a degree in Accounting and ACCA/CA and BICA membership. He/She must be in possession of 3-5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in the resources sector. Experience in the use of ERP systems is an added advantage.
