BDC is looking for an energetic, self-driven individual with strong financial analysis and entrepreneurial skills to join its team in the Industry Division as Principal Officer- Industry.
Job Purpose
The main purpose of the job is to evaluate projects in accordance with well defined guidelines, as well as, to undertake the implementation of approved projects and to be accountable for the monitoring/managing of designated accounts within the portfolio.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager-Industry, the incumbent will be responsible for servicing clients in the designated sector through evaluating project proposals in accordance with the company investment policies and once approved, through implementing such projects and managing a portfolio. The incumbent will also monitor on a regular basis, the performance of the projects within his/her portfolio, through weekly company visits, tracking their performance and producing relevant reports as required and also ensuring that timeous remedial action relating to non-performing projects within the portfolio is taken. Importantly, the incumbent will be expected to grow the size and quality of his/her portfolio, as well as, to grow the return on investment on the portfolio at the agreed rate set by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered, the candidate should possess a minimum of a degree in Business, Finance, Commerce or Economics, with at least 5 years post qualification experience in business development, investment, project planning and implementation, or related area in commercial or industrial environment. It is vital that the candidate have experience in project appraisal. Post graduate training in any of the above disciplines will create an added advantage.
Competencies
The position will involve a lot of interaction with different clients and other stakeholders, which calls for excellent interpersonal and communication skills. In addition, the right person will possess strong analytical, communication, negotiation and marketing skills. Sound computer skills are also a requirement.
