Assistant Accountant
Minimum requirements
- O'levels
- AAT or Degree in Accountancy and studying towards a professional qualification, ACCA or CIMA
- Minimum of three years experience in accounting hotel environment
- Proficiency in ACCPAC. Knowledge of D-Bit will be added advantage
- Computer literate and thorough knowledge of MS Office. Intermediate to advanced excel will be an added advantage
- Good working knowledge of restaurant & hotel accounting procedures
- Working knowledge of costing and budgeting
- Ability to logically and independently plan, organise and complete work
- Ability to set and achieve high standards of performance and work under pressure when meeting deadlines
Main duties and responsibilities
- Supervision of the revenue controller which includes ensuring that all gaming and non gaming revenues are complete and daily revenue reports for the Company are distributed within stipulated time limits
- To ensure that company assets are complete, valid and accurate. This includes maintenance and updating of the Fixed Assets register and reconciliations to the general ledger
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements including income statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly journals for the units. Ensure monthly management reports are distributed on time.
- Be business partner to the admin controllers and Hotel General Managers for all units
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts
- Ensure invoices are paid according to established standards
- Monitoring debtor balances
- Ensuring that debtors are collected in time and coordinating debtors meetings with all the units
- Updating revenue journals in ACCPAC
- Supervising cashbook, accounts receivable and payables
